The Rover Crew.

Scouting has repeatedly changed itself throughout the decades to meet the needs and aspirations of the worlds youth. Originally, Wolf Cubs formed the first section of Scouting up to the age of ten and a half to eleven, then Scouts up to the age of fifteen and then, in the 1940’s, Senior Scouts up to the age of eighteen. After this, young men of eighteen joined a Rover Crew.

132nd Derby (2nd Chaddesden) Scouts

The 132nd Chaddesden Scout group was formed in February of 1951 to cater to the children of the new housing in Chaddesden’s expanding boundaries. The existing 27th could not cope with the numbers wanting to join. Group records show that George and Sally Orchard were the first leaders. They held their first Scout Troop meeting at 65 Wilsthorpe Road where they welcomed the earliest members, Gordon Wilson and Brian White.
